Abstract
Argues for the necessity of using a guided methodology within all practical research in order to evaluate outcomes and validate its designation as research. Details of a debate as to what constitutes and validates practice as research; Importance of methodology to research outcomes; Absence of a clearly articulated methodology that might be of practical use to lecturers in an academic establishment.
