Abstract
A method for the analysis of drama, particularly contemporary authors, is proposed in the first chapter. The traditional notions of classical dramaturgy are tested and modified, and new notions are created. For each author, one of his or her plays is systematically analysed with this theoretical grid, thus allowing for a comparison of plot, action, textuality, and language games. The four main levels (discursive, narrative, actantial, ideological) are examined in each case, in order to understand the play on different levels and evaluate the main focus of each dramatic work.
