Бондаренко, Ю.В.; Бондаренко, А.П.; Романов, М.Н.; Рябоконь, Н.Г.

The use of the Sd gene is discussed. The gene, controlling white colour in adult Italian, Embden, Rhenish and Slovakian White geese, is expressed as light grey in day-old SdSd ♂♂ and as darker grey in day-old Sd- ♀♀. For 484 Italian, 192 Rhenish, 169 Rhenish × (Rhenish × Large Grey), 125 Large Grey × Rhenish, 6 Rhenish × Italian, and 53 Rhenish × Italian birds, the accuracy of sexing from colour was 97.6, 97.6, 98.1, 100, 100 and 98.2%. The rate of sexing was 1140-2000 birds/h.
