Abstract

First performance: LSO St Luke’s, London, 9 Feb 2007 with Loré Lixenberg and the BackBeat Percussion Quartet.

Broadcast: BBC Radio 4 and Radio 3 (8th February, 7th April 2007).

This work was commissioned by the Society for the Promotion of New Music after a process of competitive submission by proposal. The work was part of 'Riot', which explored music as protest. The numbers from the dates of the Stonewall riots generate rhythmic patterns and structures which play throughout the piece.
