Abstract

My contributions were a co-authored introduction (pp. 18-21), two essays (pp. 143-151) and 13 entries (approx 7 pp.).

This was the first major international loan exhibition of the art of Luca Signorelli (c.1450-1523), and my role as the leading authority on the artist was recognised by the invitation to be one of the exhibition’s curators. As such I was responsible for inviting other scholars to contribute, for the negotiation of loans and for the subdivision of the entries, as well as how the exhibition was hung. Amongst the strongest sections of the exhibition were those that dealt with Signorelli’s early works, his tondi, his predelle and his drawings. I editted all the texts in the catalogue, and made my own contributions to the Introduction and by providing two catalogue essays and thirteen entries. The exhibition was visited by 45000 visitors and was widely reviewed in the national and international press.
