Addressing Inequity in Education via Mandatory Staff development

Panesar, Lucy (2023) Addressing Inequity in Education via Mandatory Staff development. In: Reimagining Higher Education: journeys of decolonising, 8 November 2023, Leicester, United Kingdom. (Unpublished) (KAR id:103828)

Abstract

This session draws on the experience of two different institutions and their approach to addressing inequity in education within a HE context. Colleagues from the University of Kent and University of the Arts London discuss how they are utilising mandatory staff development programmes, in the shape of Postgraduate Certificates to help academic staff to innovate and transform their teaching practice in light of the decolonising agenda. Each will explain their individual approaches and reflect on the strengths and challenges they have encountered. In sharing this practice, the hope is to inspire other institutions to take bolder steps to develop more equitable and inclusive student learning experiences through their PG Certs.
