Abstract

An essay published in the catalogue/monograph Liquid Archive that accompanied the exhibition of the same title (MUMA, Melboure, 19 July-22 September 2012). Liquid Archive is part of MUMA’s ongoing series of thematic survey exhibitions exploring specific formal and discursive trajectories within the visual arts of relevance to wider social, political and perceptual contexts. Liquid Archive explores the various ways in which artists are currently working with archives – personal and public, material and digital – and archival strategies to explore the mechanisms through which we capture and recall experience, and the passage of time itself.
