Abstract
We set ourselves the challenge in the first editorial of this journal, of contributing to understandings of the ways in which contemporary society responds to and shapes health
issues. We declared the journal to be committed to stimulating the interdisciplinary study of risk. We envisaged it being a catalyst for high quality interdisciplinary study. And, if that was not enough, we confessed our ambition that the journal would act as a mechanism for exploring the practical application of theoretical insights in the arena of health challenges.
After the first volume with its three issues it is timely to take stock.
