Abstract

The practice of egg poultry farming is based on the maximum use and improvement of the functional abilities of laying hens for the production of eggs, the effective intake of feed and its components, adaptation to the housing conditions and the resistance to infectious diseases including salmonellosis. In the past, the relationship between the productivity and resistance of chickens with the peculiarities of the expression of individual genes involved in the metabolism and the immune system of the birds, or with genetic markers, which can be quite closely associated with these processes in the chicken body, has been studied a lot. In this study, mathematical models of coherent changes in the expression of eight genes of immunity, calcium transport and metabolism, and biochemical/immunological blood parameters in laying hens in response to Salmonella infection and feeding the phytobiotic Intebio were built. The proposed model approach can become the basis for an in-depth study of the relationships between the functional state of the birds, exposure to pathogenic microorganisms and the use of immunomodulating drugs.
