Abstract

There have been over 80 papers presenting experimental studies of bioactive sol-gel glasses, with one of the first reports receiving over 100 citations (Li et al, J. Appl. Biomat. v2 p231, 1991). However, modelling of sol-gel materials remains challenging (due to the long timescales of the sol-gel process). Our paper above presented the first atomistic model of the structure of a bioactive sol-gel glass. (Impact Factor: 4.81)
