Abstract

This volume presents visual and textual material relating to two major bodies of work by Shona Illingworth, Lesions in the Landscape and Topologies of Air, both of which examine how we map and experience landscapes and airspace in conceptual, geopolitical, legal, neuropsychological, and ecological terms. Contributors to this volume will produce a variety of material, from essays, interviews, research material, reports, and transcripts of hearings of the Airspace Tribunal to produce an expansive engagement with how we think about the past, present and future demands placed on landscape and airspace. A key element of this publication is an interdisciplinary discussion of how art as a practice can mobilise debate and methodologies for engaging with the increasingly reductionist, contested and contestable subject of space.
