Abstract

The analysis presented in this issue utilises recent data on the nationality of a large sample of workers in the English care sector (n=233,051) collected by the NMDS-SC. The analysis shows that within this sample migrants constitute 15 percent, the vast majority of these being from non-EEA countries and with over a quarter of them arriving from just two countries: the Philippines and India. The findings presented here indicate that the employment of migrant workers seems high in some regions, particularly London, with certain job roles and some sectors and settings having particularly high numbers of migrant workers.
