Abstract
This presentation would seek to explore how traditional ways of advising autistic people can sometimes be more of a hindrance than a help, setting up anxieties about reputation management that one is unable to do anything about. It would then look into what meaningful occupation may look like for such a diverse spectrum of people, before looking at how one may utilise one’s interests, motivations, and strengths to attain meaningful occupation, and when wanted paid employment. This presentation would also examine various routes into work, from responding to job advertisements to work placements.
