Abstract
We present a theory of magneto-X-ray effects. From first principles calculations of magnetic dichroism spectra we
calculate elements of the magneto-optical conductivity tensor at X-ray frequencies. Hence Kerr rotation and ellipticity, and Faraday rotation and ellipticity curves are calculated as functions of energy near the iron L_2 edge.
