Abstract

Recently, the term 'Intelligent Agent' has become a popular term in both artificial intelligence and mainstream computer science where it is used to describe a broad range of computational entities. In this paper, we introduce the main ideas for constructing an intelligent interface software agent that assists the end-user to interact and execute tasks with the computer in a user-friendly environment. The main aim is to reduce work for the end-user by building a software agent that acts as a personal assistant. In this study, the proposed interface agent will potentially have the following features. First, the agent will have the ability to learn by example and accumulate the experience from observing and interacting with its user and/or asking its peers. Second, the agent has the ability to scan files, e-mails,... etc., and infer the required knowledge without going deep in the language syntax. This feature is called concept searching criteria. Finally, the agent has a natural language interface which enables the agent to manipulate a short sentence or phrase and allow misspelling and/or ungrammatical cases.
