Abstract
A 105 GHz signal has been generated from a 7.5 GHz signal through high-order sideband generation on a 1.56 m wavelength carrier in a phase modulator followed by selective Brillouin amplification of the seventh-order sidebands. This process uses commercial off-the-shelf fibre-optical components and has the potential to be extended to reach higher frequencies.
