Abstract

<p>The main phase of a research programme evaluating the early implementation of the community care provisions of the 1990 NHS and Community Care Act focused on the operation of care management. It examined the activity relating to 247 individual cases in contrasting models of care management and sought the perspectives both of practitioners and of the users and carers involved. The process of assessment and the subsequent individual care packages were costed.
