Abstract
Extra care schemes provide care and support so that older people can live independently. They also aim to prevent residents feeling isolated by providing opportunities for social interaction.

This research examined how social well-being developed in 15 new-build housing schemes supported by the Department of Health’s Extra Care Housing Funding Initiative.
