Abstract

PSSRU has been commissioned to undertake a number of analyses at a national level of the data provided by 144 of the 150 Councils in England with responsibilities for Social Services, as part of the Children in Need Census 2001.

These census returns provide a database of 363389 children who were receiving services from the councils over a selected week in early Autumn 2001.

Each analysis report has been commissioned by Department of Health to explore policy and practice issues, variations between councils and developing trends. The reports include a brief commentary from DH on the reasons this analysis was needed and some observations on PSSRU's findings. As new analysis reports are made available they will be added to this page.
