Abstract

Frequency shifters in which several acoustic transducers act on an optical fibre potentially offer lower power consumption and a greater choice of operating frequency than surface acoustic wave devices. A computer model is presented and maximum predicted efficiencies and sideband suppressions for various configurations are reported.
