Abstract

For a simulated planar fluid-filled micropore under suitable conditions the atoms form two atomic layers which are quasi-crystalline hexagonal close packed . The many defects permit a rich atomic dynamics including transits between die layers. The transit activity is intermittent and the corresponding atomic motion is complex and cooperative. An investigation of this new microscopic atomic dynamics is reported.
