Abstract

Treatment of [Co-2(mu-HOCH2C=CCH2OH)(CO)(6)] in Me(2)S with HBF4.OEt(2) affords the stable salt [Co-2(mu-Me(2)SCH(2)C=CCH(2)SMe(2))(CO)(6)][BF4](2) which reacts with secondary amines to afford [CO2(mu R(2)NCH(2)C=CCH(2)NR(2))(CO)(6)](R = EtorPh), while treatment of [Co-2(mu-HOCH2C=CCH2OH)(mu dppm)(2)(CO)(2)[dppm = bis(diphenylphosphino)methane with HBF4.OEt(2) affords a stable dicarbenium complex[Co-2(mu H2CC=CCH2)(mu-dppm)(2)(CO)(2)][BF4](2) which forms adducts with pyridine and triphhenylphosphine.
