Abstract
A comparison of the relative spectral resolution of Al-27 magic angle spinning (MAS) and double axis rotation (DOR) NMR has been made for crystalline bayerite (alpha-Al(OH)(3)), boehmite (AlOOH) and gibbsite (gamma-Al(OH)(3)). Applied to a sample of partially calcined alumina powders these methods indicate a phase content of gibbsite, alpha-Al2O3 and disordered transitional alumina.
