Abstract
Data gained during a series of developmental experiments using the SNS test resonance filter spectrometer at the WNR pulsed neutron facility, Los Alamos, are presented and discussed. The operational experience obtained during the period of these studies has provided some insight into the desirable characteristics and possible limitations of any future spectrometer design and this information is considered in some detail.
