Abstract

Changes in the local structures around Cu and Fe aroma in a FeSiB-Cu(NbMo) alloy on isochronal annealing have been studied by utilizing the K-edge X-ray absorption fine structure spectra of these elements. The transition of the Cu environment from the amorphous to a distorted fee type coordination commences before the onset of the crystallization of the Fe,Si phase. The Fe local structural changes coincide with the beginning of the formation of alpha-Fe,Si crystal grains, as observed in transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images.
