Abstract
A revised connected component algorithm is presented. It has bern demonstrated that it is less sensitive to variations in handwritten data with respect to the original algorithm when applied with a novel similarity measure quotient as introduced here. The combined scheme has been successfully applied to recognition of handwritten Bengali characters.
