Abstract
Antonio Rubino, best known as one of the inventors of Italian cartoon, is examined in the context of the Futurist movement. Futuristic signs and ideals are significant when assessing Rubino's contribution to the modernization of Italian culture. His modernity is particularly obvious in the realm of the visual and in his poetry and prose, distinguished by his invention and application of an 'ideographic' principle.
