Abstract
The book in German is an introduction to the analysis of political parties and elections in liberal democracies. It is designed for postgraduate students and researchers in comparative politics specialising on political parties. It covers electoral systems, voting behaviour, party organisations and party strategies and behaviour at the governmental level. The latter includes minority cabinets, government coalitions, oppositional behaviour in parliaments, the intra-party dimension of party government, the party-politicisation of bureaucracies and the influence of parties on policy outputs world. Throughout, parties are analysed in a comparative design, highlighting the "electoral connection" of partisan behaviour.
