Abstract

Domestic abuse spiked during the Covid-19 pandemic. Calls and website visits from UK victims increased by 200%, meaning domestic abuse service providers (DASPs) experienced drastically increased workloads. This, coupled with the shift to remote working, created unprecedented challenges for DASPs responding to victims’ needs.

Criminologists Dr. Marian Duggan and Dr. Camille Stengel researched how DASPs at one charity in England managed to support victims during the pandemic by strengthening resilience, maintaining professional boundaries, and fostering positive outlooks.
