Abstract
Dans le Kent, une jeune Anglaise observe la construction d’une gare au milieu d’un paysage encore rural, paisible, presque figé. Edith Nesbit a 17 ans. Elle ignore que cette ligne de chemin de fer fera d’elle l’une des grandes pionnières de la littérature jeunesse. Dès sa publication en 1906, "Les enfants du chemin de fer" marque un tournant. Fini le ton moralisateur, Edith Nesbit adopte le point de vue des enfants et leur logique. Une révolution dans la manière de raconter l’enfance.
