Abstract

Fascia research has expanded far beyond its biomedical and clinical origins, reaching firmly into the fields of veterinary medicine, comparative anatomy, and animal biomechanics. This is a welcome and long-overdue development. Veterinary research offers a unique scientific vantage point: it provides access to species whose fascial architectures have evolved under markedly different mechanical, ecological, and behavioural demands. These comparative insights not only broaden our anatomical understanding but also challenge long-held assumptions about tissue organisation, mechanotransduction, functional continuity, and the adaptive qualities of connective tissues across species.
