Abstract
The world is facing a complex and pressing challenge as the effects of climate change, economic inequality, and multinational corporations continue to shape global markets in unprecedented ways. Climate change, the long-term shift in average global weather patterns caused by human activities, is causing global temperatures to rise, leading to extreme weather events, sea level rise, and changes in biodiversity. Economic inequality is the unequal distribution of financial resources among individuals in a given society, while international business involves conducting business activities across international borders. At COP26, the United Nations Climate Change Conference held in Glasgow in November 2021, US Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen estimated that the cost of mitigation and adaptation measures over the next three decades could total between $100 and $150 trillion. As this edited book explores global perspectives on climate change, inequality, and multinational corporations, it is clear that the public and private sectors must work together to mobilise this considerable sum to address these issues.
