Abstract

A HeNe laser with coupled cavity was used to construct an optical pulse generator, having 0. 7 ns pulse width for a repetition frequency roughly equal to 16 ns. A phase modulator placed in the passive cavity determines the mode-locking operation conditions of the laser-like pulse generator. The obtained pulsed permitted us to study experimentally the response time of the optoelectronic devices (photodiodes, phototransistors, optical fibers).
