Abstract
This paper presents the evaluation and comparison of some popular image contrast enhancement algorithms using statistical measures as an indicator of enhancement quality. This is in addition to qualitative visual evaluation of image results. Furthermore, simple extensions of the statistical measurements are employed in evaluating the severity of the contrast enhancement provided by the various algorithms.
