Abstract
Sustainability-related performance is a central concept that has gained substantial momentum recently. It is composed of leading and lagging indicators. Kravchenko et al. (2019) found that 61%, 23% and 16% indicators were related to the environmental, economic and social dimensions, respectively. Sustainability-related performance is based on sustainability indicators, such as those proposed by Saeed and Kersten (2017) which should help measure the performance of an organisation in at least one sustainability dimension. Despite the gloomy news that the year 2024 exceeded the 1.5 degrees Celsius target (BBC News, 2025), it seems that we, as humans, have moved from mitigation to adaptation strategies in relation to climate change resilience. With the effects of climate change clearly affecting lives and livelihoods around the globe, we bring a ray of hope that we should redouble efforts as researchers, for the benefit of organisations and communities to pursue sustainability-related performance.
