Abstract
This chapter discusses pathways to justice for people seeking help in relation to public authorities that fail to provide appropriate support for a young person’s special educational needs or disability (SEND).1 In January 2024, 1.9 million children and young people aged 0 to 25 years had special educational needs (SEN). Children with SEN have a learning difficulty or disability which means they need additional educational provision beyond that required by most others of the same age.2 The focus in this chapter are routes to redress for SEND through the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman (LGSCO) and the SEND tribunal in England.
