Abstract

A low-cost compressive sensing single pixel imaging (SPI) system employing cascaded Mach-Zehnder interference (MZI) structure is presented. The cascaded MZI structure is employed to provide the random patterns that required by the compressive sensing approach. A proof-of-principle experiment is performed. A fiber-based low-cost cascaded MZIs as the key devices enable proposed imaging system. Data compression ratios from 6 to 25 are obtained in the proposed system. The proposed design has great potential in solving big data issue and has extensive applications where easy-access and low-cost demanded.
