Abstract
A sawtooth phase function is proposed to assist in the design of dual beam reflectarray antennas and reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS). By using Fourier analysis, simple design equations have been determined for the calculation of element phases for both wanted beam directions and beam amplitudes. A reflectarray surface with beams at +20° and -40° and relative beam amplitudes of 0 dB and -5 dB is investigated. Measurement and simulations from CST agree well with the design theory.
