Abstract

There were significant changes to how objects were used and valued in the late to post Roman transition period in Britain. This article gives an overview of the topic with some brief case studies on different types of artefacts and the ways in which they were used and valued during this time. The artefacts discussed include belt-fittings, Quoit brooch style objects, pierced coins, and Brancaster type finger-rings.
