Abstract
This volume is a facsimile English translation of Apollinaire's 1913 book of art criticism 'Méditations esthétiques Les peintres cubistes'. It replaces the 1944 translation, previously published in the same 'Documents of Twentieth-Century Art' series. It uses the same typeface, layout and illustrations as the 1913 edition. The translation (pp. 1-84) is followed by my own commentary (pp. 85-235), explaining the text, placing it in its cultural context, documenting critical response to its original publication.
