Abstract

This workshop will introduce participants to the characteristics of survey research design. It is practical oriented and it has the purpose of sharing common practices. First, we will identify the type of research questions that can be addressed with this type of research design. Secondly, we will talk about strategies for selecting the sample and the respondents. Third, we will introduce the basic logic for questionnaire design and selection of measures. Fourth, we will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of different survey administration strategies. Finally, we will identify some limitations of this type of research design, and propose possible solutions to overcame them or mitigate their effects. The workshop will rely on examples taken from different disciplines
