Abstract
The editor introduces the first issue of the IET Image Processing, a new research journal from the Institution of Engineering and Technology. The scope of IET Image Processing aims to cover all topics related to generation, communication and processing of visual information, short of what may rightfully be considered to be the domain of computer vision, scene understanding and higher-level pattern recognition
