Abstract

This study has been undertaken within the rehabilitation research programme of the Health Servicbs Research Unit. It has been directed by Professor Warren and under the day-to-day management of Mr. Lee. Mr. Lee has been the member of the research staff with the greatest involvement in the study; he has probably spent about one-third of his time between 1973 and mid-l978 on it.

Between these years he has also worked on the Princess Mary's Hospital Study (H.S.R.U. Report No. 5), the simple fracture study, the fractured femur study, and other aspects ef the H.S.R.U.'s programme generally.
