Abstract

For each boronic acid group in 1 one hydrogen atom makes a hydrogen bond to an alkyne carbon atom as well as an intermolecular O-H...O bond; structural effects indicate the boronic acid group to be sigma-electron releasing and pi-electron withdrawing.
