Abstract
The dependence of the amplitude, phase lag and shape of the response of a novel piezo-optical monitoring system on the thickness and the geometry of colour development in the reagent layer have been studied using model systems, and compared with the response of a typical real reagent system. The principles for optimisation of phase-locking and illumination frequency are illustrated, and the use of the system to study the diffusion and reaction kinetics for reactions of analytes in solid reagent matrices is discussed.
