Abstract

Li-7 nuclear magnetic resonance studies of a series of lithium-doped boron phosphates (LixB1-xPO4, 0 < x < 0.2) are reported, Second moment calculations have been made using basic structural models and have been used in conjunction with experimental data to present a model for the distribution of Li ions in the lattice. It is shown that Li ions form in clusters, most likely around a boron vacancy. High-temperature measurements are used to obtain ionic mobility as a function of concentration, and activation energy for hopping of Li ions is shown to increase with concentration, (C) 2000 Academic Press.
